L'Autunno è arrivato ed è tempo per me di raccontarvi ciò che porterò con me dell'Estate che si è conclusa.
Sono tanti i doni che mi ha lasciato questa stagione, tanti i luoghi visitati, i sapori gustati, le meraviglie ammirate, i tesori scoperti, le avventure vissute, le amicizie approfondite. Avrei bisogno di tante pagine per raccontare tutto, quindi cercherò di limitarmi ai punti più salienti.
Autumn has begun and it's time for me to tell you what I'll take with me from Summer.
It shared with me a lot of wonderful things and moments, the places I visited, the new flavours I tasted, new adventures, deepened friendships. Probably they deserve more pages than those I'm going to write, but I'll try to say all those things that really matter.
La mia vera e propria vacanza è stata in compagnia dei miei amici, che si sono svelati sotto una luce completamente nuova, buffa ed esilarante talvolta, ma che me li ha fatti sentire più vicini perché più simili a me di quanto pensassi. In loro compagnia ho scoperto luoghi mai visitati prima, come Ferrara, ed aspetti di luoghi appena sfiorati che mi erano sconosciuti, come la parte antica della città di Rimini; ho potuto rivedere luoghi già visti, ma che non perdono mai il loro fascino e la capacità di stupirti, come ha saputo dimostrare Ravenna, con i suoi mosaici e l'amore dantesco.
Lì non ho potuto assaporare la tipica piadina romagnola (che - come si direbbe dalle mie parti - m'è rimast' 'ngann), ma sono rimasta piacevolmente colpita e stupita da quanto i romagnoli si siano industriati per venire incontro alla crescente domanda di piadine vegetariane e vegane, tanto crescente che ovunque erano proposte in menù erano esaurite; ho atteso di tornare a casa per mangiarne una! XD
Questo, però, non mi ha impedito affatto di sperimentare le prelibatezze tipiche come il panpepato - o pampapato - ferrarese (che ho intenzione di preparare per le feste invernali), che mi ha rapito con la sua straordinaria miscela di sapori, o la pasta fresca con un delizioso pesto preparato con delle verdure locali.
È stata una vacanza all'insegna del divertimento, non solo creato dalla semplice compagnia degli amici, ma anche dal ritorno al passato che abbiamo vissuto nel parco di Mirabilandia, dove tra una giostra e l'altra ci siamo concessi di ritornare un pò bambini.
I spend my holiday with my friends, and thanks to it I knew them better and some aspects of their character which I wouldn't know if we didn't stay so close for a week, and they seem more similiar to me and funny than I would expect. With them I found places where I'd never been before, like Ferrara, and which showed me parts that I didn't see during my first visits, that's the case of Rimini. I had the chance to see again places, like Ravenna, that still have that special allure which always leaves you with an open mouth and a big sense of awe, when looking at the beauty they treasure like mosaic and artworks inspired by Dante. There I hadn't the chance to eat the "piadina romagnola", but I was surprised by the huge number of bar, restaurant and bistrot which offered the vegeterian version of it, even if everywhere I tried to buy one it was sold out; I waited to come home to eat one! XD
I tasted some typical food like "panpepato" or "pampapato" from Ferrara, which has a wonderful spiced flavour, and a dish of homemade fresh pasta with a pesto sauce made with local vegetables.
We had a lot of fun and it was increased when we went to Mirabilandia park, where we let ourselves return to childhood just for a while.
Mi sono lasciata affascinare dalla bellezza del Molise, che mi ha fatto conoscere nuovi sapori come quelli degli orapi, una varietà selvatica di spinaci dal sapore completamente diverso da quel che ci si aspetta. La bellezza del Molise, però, sta per me anche nel suo essere ancora una terra dalla natura ricca ed incontaminata, che sa stupirti con gli spettacoli semplici ma non per questo meno affascinanti ed emozionanti come quelli offerti da fitte foreste o notti incantate di lucciole, o il suono della lingua locale (erroneamente detto dialetto) apparentemente vicina a quella a cui si è abituati, eppure così lontana e diversa. Ho potuto rivedere luoghi già conosciuti, che sono stati la mia ancora di salvezza dall'arsura di quest'estate (che - non so voi - mi ha davvero messa KO quest'anno, da ogni punto di vista), ma anche vederne altri che mi erano solo stati raccontati, come Agnone, che riserva sorprese dietro ogni angolo.
Molise caught my heart with its beauty and new wild flavours like the ones of the "orapi", which are a wild variety of spinach. The beauty of Molise is in its wild nature which you can't resist to fall in love with; it gives you the chance to see wonderful shows such as those offered by a deep forest or a night lit up by fireflies, or the sound of the local language (incorrectly called dialect) which seems similiar to the one I'm used to, but completely different. I went in places already known and visited, that gave me the cool weather I was seeking to survive through the summer hot, but I also visited places which I just heard about, like Agnone, which has treasures just around each corner you turn.
Ho scoperto un volto nuovo dell'Abruzzo, terra conosciuta ed amata per le sue bellezze naturalistiche, ora ha svelato la magia dei suoi borghi. Sono stata nel Parco della Majella, dove ho potuto vivere con un pò di anticipo la transizione dall'estate all'autunno. I boschi, ancora verdi, iniziavano a cambiare qua e là i colori, il sottobosco riconquistava la sua croccantezza e si abbelliva delle tinte delicate dei ciclamini mentre le radure vivevano una seconda primavera con lo sbocciare ovunque dei fiori di colchico con il suo rosa vivo. Tra le foglie intenerite ai piedi di maestosi faggi e querce, sbucavano qua e là i cappelletti dei funghi come sentissero il richiamo della loro prediletta stagione. Ho visitato la città dei confetti, Sulmona, ma anche terra natia del poeta Ovidio, che con i suoi monumenti richiamanti elementi naturali e le insegne di negozi in stile Floreale o Art Nouveau mi ha fatto tanto desiderare di restare lì. Per non parlare poi di altri borghi altrettanto belli e suggestivi, ma in parte disabitati, sempre arroccati o fuoriuscenti dalla roccia stessa della collina o montagna, una grandiosa e maestosa opera dell'ingegno umano.
Anche qui ho avuto modo di scoprire delle nuove bontà come i mugnoli, una cultivar tipica del luogo e ottenuta da una ibridazione di cavolo e broccolo, ma in via di estinzione da quanto c'è stato raccontato. Non solo bontà per il palato, ma anche della pelle come le creme per il viso con latte d'asina, che non vedo l'ora di provare, ma anche studiare per migliorare le mie cremine.
I found a new aspect of Abruzzo, which I knew for its natural beauty: that one of the old villages, often built on the peak of the hills in order to control the valley beneath. I visited the Majella National Park, where I had the opportunity to live the shift from summer to autumn. The forests were beginning to change the colours of the leaves, the undergrowth was getting crisp and its soft colours thanks to the blooms of the sowbread (a wild variety of cyclamen), the clearings were living a second spring thanks to the blooming of the autumn crocuses. Through the roots of ancient oaks and beeches, I saw the emerging caps of mushrooms making their way through the dead leaves as they had heard the call of their favourite season. I went to Sulmona, the city of the sugared almonds and where Ovid was born, which caught my eyes with their monuments inspired by natural elements and the entries of some old shops in Art Nouveau style. And what to say about the wonderful villages I found? Amazing! Walking through their ways, you can easily understand why there are so little residents there, but it seems that you are brought in the past.
There I tasted the local food like "mugnoli", a hybrid of a cabbage and a broccoli, which could be extinct in the next future as someone told us. There I also found some interesting products for the skincare made with donkey milk, like moisturizing cream, that I want to try and study in order to improve mine.
Così l'Estate ha lentamente ceduto il passo all'Autunno, che ci attende con tutti i suoi meravigliosi frutti e le celebrazioni di rito, tocca solo a noi iniziare le danze della festa tra una sagra e l'altra onorando ora la vite, ora i funghi, ora il vino, ora le castagne e tutte le prelibatezze di stagione.

At last Summer fell into Fall, which has in its arms all its delicious fruits and is waiting us to start its celebration, it's up to us to go to the marvellous festivals during this season, celebrating now the grapevine, now the chestnuts, now wine, now mushrooms and all those delicious things Autumn gives us.
