Rose - Rosa

 "Rosa" è il primo pezzo della Collezione Botanica, che è ispirata alla bellezza delle piante.

Ho scelto la rosa come primo pezzo della collezione perchè volevo festeggiare la ritrovata salute della mia piccola pianta di rose che si è ammalata durante l'inverno e ha faticato a guarire per tutta la primavera, ma adesso è in piena fioritura: una bellezza per gli occhi e il naso! Sono letteralmente impazzita per il suo meraviglioso profumo! 

Nel tempo questo fiore si è caricato di una grande valenza simbolica e presso molte popolazioni è diventato un fiore sacro. Gli antichi Romani e Greci lo consideravano il fiore sacro della dea dell'amore, Afrodite-Venere, e questo legame con la forma d'amore più alta portò successivamente a vedere in esso l'amore per il divino, per Gesù Cristo, tanto che ogni chiesa e cattedrale fu costruita con un magnifico rosone, al cui centro si trovava spesso o la rappresentazione del Cristo Pantocratore o della Madonna benedicente o con Bambino. 

La rosa con la sua magnifica corolla è così andata simboleggiando nel corso del tempo la bellezza effimera della vita mortale, ma anche la spirale o il cerchio della vita, l'amor carnale così come estatico e divino, mentre i suoi petali sono stati considerati tanto i custodi dei segreti che le lingue di fuoco dello Spirito Santo, ed è difficile non capire l'associazione con il fuoco, dopotutto era un'ardente passione quella che ardeva nei petti dei giovani amanti di Verona e che spinse Giulietta a dire al suo amato Romeo:

Che c'è in un nome? Ciò che chiamiamo
Rosa avrebbe con qualsiasi altro nome
Un profumo altrettanto dolce. Così Romeo,
Se non si chiamasse Romeo conserverebbe
Quella rara perfezione che possiede
Senza quel titolo. Lascia il tuo nome,
Romeo, e in cambio del tuo nome che non è
Parte di te, prendi tutta me stessa.

Il ciondolo è fatto completamente a mano con paste polimeriche e quarzo rosa; per il suo fiore, così come per quelli delle parti romboidali, ho usato la tecnica skinner per ottenere diverse sfumature di rosa, da quello più scuro a quello più chiaro.

Per le altre parti della collana ho usato perle di vetro di Murano (di due diversi tipi: uno grande e fiorito di color rosa antico,e uno di un verde sfumato), perle di quarzo rosa e rame. C'è da aggiungere che le parti di collegamento in rame col tempo si scuriranno, donando all'intera collana il fascino dei gioielli vintage, tanto che si potrebbe pensare che l'abbiate ereditato da vostra nonna! :D

La collana è lunga 41cm (circa 16'), comprendendo anche il ciondolo. 

È perfetta chi ama lo stile un po' retro, romantico e shabby chic, ma anche per chi ama l'arte Floreale e la Natura in generale!

"Rose" is the first piece of the Botanic Collection, which is inspired by the beauty of the plants.

I chose the rose as the first piece because I wanted to celebrate the newfound health of my little rose, which fell ill in winter and it still was in springtime, but now it's in full bloom and I fall in love with its wonderful scent!

In each time and place mankind gave this flower many and different meanings and considered it a sacred thing. For ancient Greek and Roman it was the flower of the love goddess, Aphrodite or Venus, and this association led to another one: the rose became the symbol of the love for the divinity, in particular for Jesus Christ, in fact we can find above the front door in a lot of churches and cathedrals a rose window and at the centre of it we usually find Christ Pantocrator or the Virgin Mary with the Child or in a blessing pose.
As we can see, the rose came to symbolize the ephemeral beauty of mortal life, but also the spiral or circle of life as well as the ecstatic love for the divinity and banging sex, while its petals became the representation of the secret keepers as well as the tongues of fire of the Holy Spirit, but this connection with the fire isn't difficult to understand, in fact it was a burning passion that moved the lovers of Verona to that tragic end and led Juliet to that famous verse dedicated to her beloved Romeo:

What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet.
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name;
And for thy name, which is no part of thee,
Take all myself.

The pendant is completely handmade with polymer clays and rose quartz; I used the skinner technique in order to have different shades of pink and made the flower very similar to the real one, and I used the same technique in making the flowers of the diamond parts, which are in polymer clay too.

For the other parts of the necklace I used beads of Murano glass (two different kinds: the big flowery ones and the faded green ones), rose quartz beads and copper. In particular, the copper of the linking parts, which are all handmade, will darken while time goes on, giving the whole necklace the special allure of vintage pieces, so that somebody could think you inherited it from your granny! ;)

The necklace is about 16inches (41cm) long, including the pendant.
